Deductive Logic; Syllogism, Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens

There a different ways of Deductive Reasoning
Syllogism, Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens

An example of Deductive Logic is Syllogism

An example of Syllogism would be:
Major premise: All humans are mortal.
Minor premise: Socrates is a human.
Conclusion: Socrates is mortal.


An example of Modus Ponens would be;
If P, then Q
P
_____________
therefore Q

If Iran has WMD, we'll invade Syria
Iran has WMD
_____________
Therefore, we'll invade Syria


The last example of Deductive Logic is Modus Tollens
An example of Modus Tollens would be;

if P, then Q
not Q
_____________
therefore, not P
