Aquinas' Arguments

"We are able to judge the good qualities of the things around us because there is a model of every good, which is God"

eh.. no
So we are kinda comparing the good qualities in people to those of GOD?
God wasn't a very perfect dude now was he?
He forgets things, acts like he doesn't know things to make you confess what you've done.
But anyway, good qualities are also on the outside.
So, i think Rachel Weisz is BEAUTIFUL
Beauty is a good quality... so does Rachel Weisz resemble God ??
that would be really creepy.
And no one has ever seen God soo... this is a really dumb statement. sorry.~

stupid

"Even the most superficial observation shows that Nature's restricted form of propagation and increase is an almost rigid basic law of all the innumerable forms of expression of her vital urge. Every animal mates only with a member of the same species. The titmouse seeks the titmouse, the finch the finch, the stork the stork, the field mouse the field mouse, the dormouse the dormouse, the wolf the she-wolf, etc."

This is an excerpt from Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler

Hitler is using a false analogy in his statement here. A false analogy is when an analogy is descriptive, but doesn't offer proof of a connection between the 2 things being compared. He is comparing humans to animals and saying we should act as they do when it comes to sex and our way of life. He wants to find something to compare our way of life to and he chooses animals which is completely idiotic.
Obviously, Hitler is an idiot and has stupid ideas, so i just went into even greater depth on how big of a jackass he really was.

Unintelligent Design

For one, i believe Intelligent Design is a boring topic... i'm just sayin'
Evolution doesn't sound appealing either
Though i believe in a higher power, i don't think something that created us was intelligent per say.
If something created US than it wasn't very intelligent because humans are the stupidest most screwed up things on this planet ... next to cows. We screw up everything.

Evolution is very boring and doesn't make sense to me
Things evolve over time?
So over time we're just gonna look different?
Are we at our final stage of evolution?
because if we are then the world is DONE.
Evolve.... it just doesnt make sense to me

none of this does
were here for a reason
not a coincidence

heres what Cattle Decapitation have to say about Intelligent Design:

Cattle Decapitation - Unintelligent Design

Goddamn humans and their stupid ideas
Moronic morality for the weak and full of hope
We're supposed to think we're created to serve - when domination is in our nature?
What kind of god is this?

A design full of faults or lab rats in "god's" maze?
This is the joke we're supposed to believe: Adam and
Eve.
Deceived.

A complex, but fallible "design"
Waste of energy
Non-beneficial waste of intelligence
Waste of time.

Why?
Your "good book" castrates instinct
A fairy tale glorified
Deprivation of nature
A blindfold to the true heart of man
Unintelligently designed

Idiots
Backwards
Self-serving
Self-righteous
All-consuming
Bastards

Ignorant
Irrelevant
Pernicious
Poisonous
Ever destroying
Juggernauts.

A brilliant, but defective "design"
Anti-environmental
waste of intelligence,
waste of energy,
waste of time.

A design full of faults; an invention - damned by god!
This is the joke we're supposed to believe: Adam and Eve.
Deceived.

Obama and Affirmative Action

FIRST OF ALL
The term affirmative action refers to policies that take gender, race, or ethnicity into account in an attempt to promote equal opportunity.

Now, Mr. Basinger brought up a great question in class today... Should we still use Affirmative Action now that Barrack Obama is president.
There are (like in every debate) two sides to this.

Affirmative Action should be kept around because there are people who are straight A students who just don't have the money for college, and want to get there, so Affirmative Action may get them into a University they really hoped to get to... But at the same time, one maybe an unmotivated jackass with a double digit IQ, who applied and will get in because he/she is the minority. Some may say that if a person is a bad student but they get into a College because of Affirmative Action then they will be much more motivated to do well and make a future for themselves. But of course this isn't necessarily true. Also, in the Declaration of Independence it says your entitled to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... so doesn't everyone deserve a shot at a good future??? I think so
This is a very hard thing to debate, because there are pros and cons to both sides.

I say Affirmative Action should stay right where it is... just because a "minority" is the president doesn't mean that "Oh a black guy is president so yea.. we have now paid our dues for blacks after generations of slavery.. AWAY WITH AFFIRMATIVE ACTION"
Doesn't work that way
Give the motivated what they deserve ... a chance~

Deductive Logic; Syllogism, Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens

There a different ways of Deductive Reasoning
Syllogism, Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens

An example of Deductive Logic is Syllogism

An example of Syllogism would be:
Major premise: All humans are mortal.
Minor premise: Socrates is a human.
Conclusion: Socrates is mortal.

An example of Modus Ponens would be;
If P, then Q
P
_____________
therefore Q

If Iran has WMD, we'll invade Syria
Iran has WMD
_____________
Therefore, we'll invade Syria

The last example of Deductive Logic is Modus Tollens
An example of Modus Tollens would be;

if P, then Q
not Q
_____________
therefore, not P
